Princess Diamond Pendant

Q.I know the difference between flash and class. I am much more into the quality than the size. I know a lot of women who would be upset if they saw a diamond that wasn't huge in size, few would be smart enough to speak up and say "Hey, I don't want the 3 carat, K in color, SI2 Marquis solataire, I would rather have the 1 carat, D in Color, VVS1 Emerald cut ring." For instance I have an acquaintance who picked out her own engagement ring and wedding band w/her fiancee, and she opted for a 1.75 carat Round, that was J in color in SI2 with channel set princess cut diamonds on the band and on the wedding band (even lesser quality than the solataire). When she showed it to me, the first thing she said was "Look how big it is!" I wasn't impressed. IMO, either she and her fiancee didn't care enough to educate themselves on diamonds or all they wanted was fluff. Which I suspect is the latter judging by her character. IMO, $10grand isn't alot when you are talking about precious stones. An E in Color VVS1 diamond is worth more than $10grand. Unless, it's bought wholesale, and still it would be worth more than $10k. This is just my opinion, any thought??

A.Most young people I know who are married have a diamond worth 5 to 15 grand and if they have a less expensive one, it's because they moved into a new house right after the wedding. I don't know too many people with a less expensive one. It's like a car. They're on a payment plan with ring. (I'd rather have a smaller one, personally, and then get a killer eternity band on my anniversary where every other stone in the band was my birthstone. I'd feel more like a Princess, personally, than having one huge rock that stands alone all by itself.) Some women have a huge solitaire and a tiny, thin little band and it's kind of sad to me. The gold band is supposed to represent enternal love, so if all that you care about is the stone and not the integrity of the band, IMO, it's kind of a warped frame of mind. I own several gemstones in ring and pendant form, (all were gifts and only one was from a female) but I'm MUCH more of a stickler for clarity than I am for size. I want that baby to glimmer and shimmer from a distance, Damnit!!! The sparkle means more to me than the size. My largest, most expensive diamonds are from father. He bought them with cash. (I don't know HOW women who are saving for a house and/or a baby can't feel guilty about their husband charging them these engagement rings that are $45,000 bucks! OMG!) I was a bit upset that my dad bought me such a nice gift, but I'm happy to know he could afford it and they're paid off. I'd rather that the guy buy us a Volvo station wagon with that kind of $$$ than to charge diamonds. Invest in the kids; the future. Give them a safe, reliable car. Don't worry so about making a statement. Even if you can't have kids or don't want any, buy something you'll enjoy and remember like a grand piano or go on vacation every year. I think most people buy huge diamonds just to make a statement to others about their supposed financial security and job success, which is just plain TACKY. It's not how I was raised... I figured out about a month ago while organizing my jewelry that I could wear a diamond on every finger if I wanted because most of my gemstone rings contain diamonds beside or atop the gemstone. I don't do that, though. I'd be embarassed to look so pretentious! These women with all of these diamond rings stacked all up and down their hands look kind of suspect... I always wonder if their husbands have a gambling problem or if they've been married numerous times like Liz Taylor...accumulating men as quickly as diamonds.
