Man Jewelry Pendant
Q.some people commented lately about the negative attitudes of many Christians, or atheists, I suppose, to their wearing pentacles. It just made me think that, for those still in the 'broom closet' or those who wish to avoid these attitudes, there are a lot of pagan symbols that don't look particularly pagan. The Ankh and the Celtic cross come to mind, as does the guy who said he wore a Xian-type fish, pointed up instead of sideways, as a fertility symbol. If you're trying to make a statement, pentacles are fine, but they're not the only choice out there if all you want is a focus for your thoughts and feelings. Can anyone else out there think of any other good pagan symbols
A.When I was working in a Wiccan tradition, I wore a pentacle, and when confronted by someone with whom I did not want to get into a big thing, I simply said it was the Lone Star of Texas. I don't wear a pentacle anymore, since I'm working in a Celtic tradition and pentacles aren't Celtic (and no flames, I already have my mind made up on this one). I have a nice silver spiral drop pendant with a hematite bead (picture an upside down question mark), several crescent moons in earrings and pendant form, a Brighid talisman, a silver torque, a silver charm of the Goddess humping the man in the moon, a triskele pendant, and two claddaghs, one silver and one gold (one is my wedding ring and one is a friendship ring). That pretty much covers what I consider my "pagan" jewelry. I rarely get questions on it, except for comments on how pretty any particular piece is. All of the above-mentioned things are perfectly acceptable pagan jewelry, and -- except perhaps for the Goddess and the man in the moon -- don't depict anything that would cause undue concern on the part of the unwashed.
