Faux Jewelry Pearl Set
Q.For a wrap: a vintage black ribbon shawl. Shoes: vintage (but they were new in the box--a real find) gold ballroom dance shoes--open-toed, strappy, tolerable heel. Purse: vintage Magid lion's head gold colored purse (this was "knocked off" excessively a few years ago, but mine is original and has a lot more personality than the copies do) Minimal jewelry, if any. Why gild the lily?
A.It would depend. If dancing were expected, my black silk pumps w/ open instep and ankle strap from Talbot's. The heel is a *bit* low on these for them to look truly cool, but hey, if I want to be camped out on the dance floor all night.... If no dancing were to be expected, my Nina's that are similar but have a higher heel and a strap that snakes up the instep and wraps around the ankle. And that are less comfortable than the Talbot's low heels. Handbag: My Jane Shilton patent leather semicircle w/ the strap removed to make it a clutch. Purchased in London in 1978. Flap looks like a clamshell with scalloping. Jewelry: Earrings, Dior goldtone inverted triangles w/ faux diamonds and amethyst, and teardrop shaped pearl drops. I have plenty of the real deal jewelry wise ;-) but these out of everything I own would work best w/ this dress. Wedding and engagement rings. Would carry watch in handbag or rely on DH to bring one of his pocket watches.
