Diamond Key Necklace.
Q.I got to Fornello, then set off to look for the necklace in the fort. I found a fang necklace, and a gold necklace. Went to the mayor, asked about the necklace again, nothing happens. Dropped both items near her, nothing. So silly me goes off and _sells_ the gold necklace (fang is a nifty item to keep), thinking there is another necklace back at fort (sure enough, the diamond). But she doesn't seem to want that one either. So my question is, have I found the right necklace? How do I give the necklace to the mayor? Was selling the gold necklace an incredibly dumb thing to do? Is this situation salvagable?
A.As far as I know, the only time you can create an unsalvageable situation is by killing a dragon before it tells you something crucial. Don¹t worry, Exile is very flexible and fair. If you can sell it, it is not essential, just nice. The place in your inventory to look for truly important plot devices is that special page after all your character sheets. You will find the necklace there after you get it. Ah but the obscurity is part of the fun! You¹re supposed to be a bit clueless for a while (and once you think you understand everything, new twists appear). Just be patient, and if you get stuck, think about the problem differently. For example, here I think the solution is not how to give the Mayor her necklace but where to find the right fort! Actually, I'm pretty sure it's the correct fort, it has 2 entrances, 3 levels, and a villainess (A.) in it who was dispatched with only a little difficulty. The gold necklace I found was (I think) in a locked room only accessible after passing through another door w/ a special key. But there's no necklace in my "special" inventory. he real necklace is beyond the bronze door. There are hints in the dungeon about where the bronze key is.
