Diamond Fashion Jewelry

Q.What is your favorite sentimental piece of jewelry and what is the story behind it? Just curious! Mine are all of the earrings that I got from Claires Boutique that my boyfriend bought for me (3 pairs for my bday and one for our 6 month anniv).

A.My son is stationed in Italy and he sent me a ring for Christmas. It has two stones, peridot and yellow topaz. His birthstone is peridot and mine is yellow topaz. I have an inexpensive small gold heart pendant that says "mom" inside the heart. My son bought it for me when he was twelve. The other sentimental pieces are those that came from my mother, a cameo, her engagement and pinky rings, and two watches on chains. A few things off the top of my head: --a necklace made of beads and seeds given to me by the (ex-)wife of a Navajo shaman I befriended whilst giving a paper at a conference in Finland --some silly (and some gaudy) necklaces I made with a old friend which we used to wear to horrify our friends --the sterling charm bracelet my parents gave me for my first Holy Communion --a bunch of costume jewelry from my mom and her mom --diamond earrings which had belonged to my dad's mom --a diamond and sapphire cocktail ring which had belonged to my mom's mom which she wore for every party, holiday, and family gathering(and which I wear every day in her memory as we were very very close and I miss her every day) --the other ring I wear every day, a diamond and sapphire ring my parents gave me for Christmas about 10 years ago --most recently, the diamond earrings and diamond necklace The Engineer gave me for Christmas and my birthday, respectively It's hard to find a place to start because I think any jewelry my folks or DH have given me is sentimental but a few pieces stand out: A garnet and freshwater pearl choker my Dad made me. A peridot and freshwater pearl necklace also made for me by my Dad. This is even more sentimental to me since I met my DH whose birthday is in August. A pendant my maternal grandmother had made of gold filigree with a garnet bead drop and her initials engraved into the center. I don't have any other jewelry of hers so this is highly sentimental to me. My step-grandmother's wedding ring, a 1/4 carat center surrounded by smaller diamonds in a leafy white gold setting. I consider her my grandmother because my aforementioned maternal grandmother died when my Mom was 13 but my step grandma was with us until I was in my 20s. Small pewter heart stud earrings - first gift of jewelry from my DH. Of course, my wedding and engagement rings.
