Class Lost Ring Senior, Resizing a ring ?

Q.I found my wedding ring that has been lost for four years. During the chronic fatigue I gained about 65 pounds and have only lost 20 of it. The ring doesn't fit. How much would it cost to resize the thing to fit my finger? Can it be stretched or would the process involve adding more ring material. It's just a plain gold band without any fancy texture or milling or whatnot. I throw it in the fire and some sort of script shows up temporarily and it's strangely cool to the touch, but that's probably not important for this question.

A.When they resized my wife's ring, they substituted a junk diamond in it. She caught them and we ended up with a BETTER gem after they "cleaned it behind the mounting where the heat probably carbonized some collected grease." In your case, it's a plain band. But weigh it first ... I have a nice ring story. My senior year in HS, My class ring was liberated from my gym locker. No luck in getting it back after asking teacher to ask class / asking around / keeping ears open. It was a nice ring. around 10 years later I was talking about it around Thanksgiving, up at my parents. At Christmas, I had opened a gift which was a ring. Looked like my ring, thought my parents had re-ordered one - but it looked *just* like it, slightly worn as it was years ago. My Father told me, not long after I was talking about it, the school had called. A lady in town, who's husband had passed, was going though his things and found the ring with my name inside, called the school / gave it to them, and they called my parents. Never got a name, but I'm guessing some kid took it and their father took it away, or found it and could not sell with name or because it was to personal, who knows why it was held on to... However, I got my class ring back after it's journey, and I'm sure in much better condition than if I had it the decade in between. It still fits, snugly, but it fits... so I have no info along that line, but it's a nice story - and it has a nice ring to it. Good news, you get to travel to Hawai'i; however since Loihi is underwater you need to be able to swim. On your less important question, I think a ring can be resized by adding a smidgen of gold to the band to increase its size.
