Price of gold and selling gold rings ?

Q.I have an old, average size class ring that weighs about 14 grams total, made of 10k gold, the fake stone, and whatever else is in a class ring (paint, etc). Just as a ballpark, could anyone give an educated guess of how much in agw there might be in a ring like that and how much a gold buyer might pay for a ring like this?

A.I lost my High School class ring somewhere about 25 years ago and I've been looking for it ever since. I have been through every box, drawer, closet, drawer, shelf, box, drawer, closet in my home. Multiple times. You know how tiny a ring is. It could be under something else and I just didn't reach far enough down into a box buried in a closet to touch it. Or, it might not be in my home at all. I honestly don't know. Class of 1967. 18k Gold. Cost me $43.00 in 1967. Gold was $35/oz in 1967. I don't know what its melt value would be now with Gold at $680/oz but even if it was, well, I can't even guess how many grams, but it was a huge honkin' ring, I still wouldn't sell it. I'd have it re-sized and wear it. It just means too much to me. I don't think they even sold 10k class rings back when I graduated. Gold was so cheap then there was no reason, so most all of us bought 18k rings. To be honest, my highschool days weren't some of the best days of my life. Lots of family problems. And now, getting terminated makes the prospect of selling the ring more attractive. Gotta feed the wife and kids. Thanks to all who replied. I graduated HS in 1959 and what's left of my class ring says it's 10K. I can't remember if there were options for higher gold content rings, but if there were, I sure wouldn't have been able to afford one. I still have my late parents' modest HS rings from the 1920's, and they're 18K. I couldn't bring myself to sell any of these, regardless of how high gold goes.
