celtic design for rings ?

Q.My Lady and I request some aid in a task we have set ourselves. We are planning a mideaval wedding and are looking for some information. 1. We are having our rings made for us from white gold and we are looking for the right pattern for the rings. We want to find an authentic period celtic pattern indicting our Love for one another. Someone suggested a pattern called "Clannad knot". Not being familiar with celtic patterns myself, I have never heard of this and am interested in what it is (my interest is in mongol history so I freely admit to being somewhat 'Celtically challenged' ). Any information would be greqatly appreciated. 2. We were thinking about getting married at an event (Summer 2000) and wanted to know if there were any specific rules forbidding this before I approach the local Baron and Baroness. 3. Any related info on Mideaval weddings and more specifically, Celtic Mideaval weddings (late period ~1500). I have already gone through the `Florilegium' (by the way, if you haven't looked at his site, you are missing a vast wealth of information) and pulled the pertinent articles. Any other information would be appreciated. We have about 18 months to plan and pay for the wedding, but we want something special and the more info we have the better.

A.I think you're probably meaning a Claddagh ring - it's a band with a pair of hands holding a crowned heart. (Clannad are a music group and the word means "family" so a clannad ring could be appropriate but I've never heard of one, and I probably don't count as celtically challenged at all.) BEAUTIFUL designs. My lord and I are planning to use those rings in our wedding - hopefully not too far in the future. We, too, wish to plan a Celtic SCA wedding, probably at an event - although we are on the very edge of our kingdom, so the organization of this will probably be difficult. I will find it interesting to see what other responses you receive to this message. I have had little time recently to listen in to the Rialto; I shall have to remedy that so that we may benefit from the advice, as well! Have you taken a look at the Medieval/Renaissance Wedding Page yet? http://www.spu.edu/~kst/bib/bib.html I will say that in my research, I have not turned up a lot of information on Irish and/or Scottish Renaissance wedding customs. Still, take a look asd see if you find anything you can use.
