Q.I love homemade stuff. I would rather get one of those nifty pens than a diamond necklace, seriously. no lying. i would rather get a picture drawn that i can stick on my wall than anything else. i'm a HUGE sentimental freak. i keep every letter, every card, every picture my siblings or nephews or nieces ever drew for me, ever coloured, ever scribbled. i made dreamcatchers for my boyfriend's family for christmas. if they don't like it, tough. i put my heart into that stuff.
A.Not many folks are close to me, but those who are close have learned not to expect a Christmas present from me, and they have also learned that they might be the recipient of a present from me, at any time! I tell them that when I have the urge to give something to someone, I'm not going to wait to a calendar date to give it to them! It works out quite well. Ah, the diamond necklace: in terms of material things, that is a hard act to follow. This is just my opinion, but if your brother was really such a loving, thoughtful person, he'd have said the necklace was also from you! I'd like to believe that your mother feels much like Tara feels: that the sentimental value is far more important than the monetary value. While you might agree with that premise, you don't really believe it, yet. I think you already realize that you're fighting an unnecessary battle. To win, you only need to stop struggling.
