Making jewelry

Q.Is there anyone that makes their own jewelry? We have a girl I work with that makes necklaces, bracelets - I was thinking about trying this out myself but was wondering what equipment you need to hook the end "clasps" on. Can anyone give me any help?

A.Yes, I do. It really depends on what material you are using. Wire type (SoftFlex is best, tigertail is a cheap alternative), thread (upholstrey thread is the strongest) or elastic (be really picky here) Generally, you will need needlenose pliers, (preferably two pairs-one for each hand), wire snips (small ones). I am assuming you are familiar with jumprings, springrings, and crimp beads. For more info. rec.craft.beads is a generally friendly ng.
