Jewelry Making QuestionQ.I know that some of you make your own jewelry. I'm interested in giving it a try. I'd like to try beading or wire work...any book rec's for an absolute beginner? A.One word of advice though: don't just invest in beads and threads though, remember to get yourself some tools too, as they will make your creative life much easier. You don't need much: a pair of flat nosed pliers, maybe some tweezers, some cutters and a pair of curved-nosed pliers. They're very inexpensive. Oh, and perhaps a beading mat... I *heart* my beading mat! You can start nice and easy with some memory wire chokers and bracelets; they're totally foolproof and look lovely on :-) Earrings can also be very simple; all you need is a bunch or earhooks, some headpins, beads and you're in business. Take a little time to learn what all the finding are and what they're for (again, the Net is a cauldron of useful info, and FREE!) and don't be shy to experiment. If you're an Ebayer, you can find *everything* on Ebay, and for very good prices too. As you said, quite a few of us here have been bitten by the jewellery bug, so feel free to ask anytime you need some help. Ooooh, jewellery - one of my fave subjects!
