Affordable Pearl JewelryQ.I'd like your opinions on this - I'm thinking of giving , matching earrings and necklaces for them to wear at the wedding. However, I don't want to come off as a Bridezilla, ordering them to MATCH!!! or else! I really don't care what they wear as jewelry, I just thought this was a pretty good gift idea. They'd be simple, and probably in topaz or something, orangey, whatever. Their dresses are "bone", kind of an off-off-beige, so I could go with practically any color. I've been playing with flower sites on the web, and orange-peach lilies go wonderfully with the color. Anyway, what's your opinion? Would giving them matching jewelry be going to far on the matching thing??? A.Giving matching jewelry as attendants' gifts sends the message: "I expect you to wear this with your wedding outfits and MATCH." There's nothing wrong with that. It's a common reason for brides to give jewelry to their attendants. I personally don't love the "perfectly matched" look, but if you feel better with an exact match, paying for the jewelry is certainly nicer than expecting attendants to buy their own. Unless this jewelry is also very much in line with your attendants' personal tastes, they'll probably never wear it again, so it becomes more a convenience and keepsake than a truly useful gift. But that's fine with a lot of people! You don't have to feel bad about doing it that way, unless this would be so totally unlike how you normally give gifts that you feel like you're turning into someone else. If the sense of "making" them wear matching jewelry truly bothers you, choose an affordable store with a large selection (or a good mall), and get different coordinating sets that are a closer fit with each attendant's personal tastes. There should be a number of variations available with topaz, a gold chain, and maybe a pearl or two. They'll still all wear it with their bridesmaids' dresses, but there's a greater sense that the gift was chosen for each person individually, and less of a matchy-matchy look. Take a list and try to do this all in one big trip to Rosedale or something -- while it's a nice touch, it shouldn't be allowed to turn into a source of stress.
